Numerical Simulation of Pulsed Gravel Packing Completion in Horizontal Wells

The gravel packing completion method for horizontal wells has the advantages of maintaining high oil production a long time, wellbore stability, and preventing sand production, so it become preferred wells. At present, this technology still faces problems bed height poor migration. In order to improve efficiency in wells, pulsed is proposed first time. Based on mechanism hydraulic pulse, Eulerian–Eulerian model, k-ε model based renormalization group theory (RNG model), Fluent are used simulate solid-liquid two-phase flow. By optimizing parameters such as frequency amplitude pulse waveform, optimal waveform determined. effects sand-carrying fluid displacement, viscosity, ratio, particle size, string eccentricity studied, distribution law migration velocity volume fraction obtained. According results, can be seen that with increase displacement viscosity carrier fluid, fixed moving decreases gradually, while suspension increases gradually. With eccentricity, suspended Comparing conventional concluded higher. decreased by 30% 40% respectively, increased 20%. 25%, ability improved obviously.
